If you really think about it, the backbone of any society is education. It's not always obvious, but an educated population paves the way for a better, more prosperous society. There are many reasons for this but I'm sure you can see the direct connection between prosperity and education. For one, without education, we cannot compete in a global economy; Our country will be left in the dust. And guess what, this is exactly what is happening right now. China will soon be the new superpower of the world due largely in part because of the amount of educated people that the country has. If America wants to compete, and kick start the economy, an emphasis on education is a needed.
The Cost of Education
Right now, getting a college degree is very expensive. It's so expensive in fact that many leaders are now encouraging people to not go to college. For many people, going to college is no longer economical and the debt that they would incur far outweighs the benefit of any job they could get with the degree. Mike Rowe, famous for doing some of the dirtiest jobs is America recently said this: “We are lending money we don’t have to kids who can’t pay it back to train them for jobs that no longer exist. That’s nuts.” The fact is, the cost of higher education has now reached the point where it is no longer a feasible option for most people's futures.
I knew a guy that graduated from a renowned 4-year university and ended up getting a decent job. The problem was that he had so much debt that his actual spendable income after making his loan payments was less than what his little brother made while working at Target. And unfortunately for my friend, he will have to struggle for the next 8 years of his life to make ends meet. Student loans cannot be wiped out with a bankruptcy, and many private banks are unwilling to work with him to reduce his payments. What he thought was a great decision (going to college) ended up costing him a lot more. Can you see the problem with this? Getting an education should be a means for a better life, not a worse one.
The Real Cost of Education
In the big picture of things this is quite disturbing. If people stop pursuing higher education because of the cost, our great country will most surely lose the competitive edge in the global economy. Many people don't realize how big of a problem the cost of education really is. If nothing is done about the cost of college only the privileged will have a chance to further their education. Unemployment will rise and eventually employers will de-value degrees (especially graduate degrees). In essence, American society would eventually be doomed to a life of mediocrity.
Promoting Change: Start With Public School System
Now let’s talk about the public school system for a moment. Our nation’s public education system is an utter disaster. Graduation rates are down, teachers are under paid, and many students graduate without the knowledge necessary to succeed in life. The education system needs serious reform. Revitalizing education is the key to improving the economy as wells as the quality of life for our people. School should be a place for people to learn how to be a productive member of society. It should prepare them for life while also imparting enough general knowledge about everything for them to make informed decisions. What informed decisions you ask? I'm talking about career choices, voting choices, family planning choices, etc.
So how do we fix the problem and restart the economy? First and foremost, education needs to become a priority for our Country. It needs to be at the top of the list rather than at the bottom. A world class education system will require world class teachers. Teachers need to get paid at least double what they are making now. Standards for becoming a teacher should also be increased.
After we've funded a good education system and stocked it full of qualified teachers, it would be a good idea to include some new classes in the curriculum. Here are a list of classes that I believe everyone should pass before graduating from high school.
- Basic Finances (Budgets, Savings, Investments, Taxes, Money Management)
- Basic Government (What is the purpose of government, what services do they offer and why?)
- Basic Computers and The Internet (Coding, Websites, Social Media, Privacy)
- Business Management (Basics of how to start and run a business, etc)
Teaching children these items will eventually improve the functionality of this Country. In addition to these general items, a strong emphasis should be placed on careers, jobs, and business. I know a few people who don't have a job, but are struggling to start their own business. What they are lacking, besides resources, is some basic knowledge that might improve their chances for success.
Promoting Change: College and Higher Education
To change the college education system for the better will not be easy. There are at least two things that need to happen that will ultimately make college affordable again: 1) Increase support for trade schools, 2) Push for accreditation of free online colleges.
First on the list is to increase support for trade schools. These days trade schools are often seen as the red-headed stepchild of the family of higher education options. I'm not sure how trade schools earned their stigma, however, we've got to strive for a change in public perception. There are many careers that you can get by going to a trade school that pay just as much, if not more, than a job with a college degree would.
We are on the brink on an online revolution. Most colleges and universities these days offer at least some classes in an online format. Many colleges even offer online degree programs. However, the problem with this is that the online programs cost the same as the regular on campus program and are usually much more difficult to complete. The revolution will begin when companies like Coursera and EdX get the ability to offer complete college degree programs online for free or for a very low fee. The problem is that most of the free courses available do not actually earn you any college credit (though you might earn a certificate). Accreditation of the free programs is needed and employers have yet to take the free classes seriously.
Geomagnetic reversal holds some surprising developments
Surprisingly fast changes in the earth's core are driving geomagnetic reversal and is having many ramifications upon the surface of the earth. Geomagnetic reversal is not just inconvenient to boy scouts who attempt orienteering with a compass, but to a whole host of migratory species such as birds, whales and butterflies. Due to the increasing geomagnetic chaos that is representative of the poles reversing, there is a transitional period where the entire field is scrambled into small north-south zones all over the planet. The problem is worsening and it is wreaking havoc on migratory species. Those of us who like to watch the cycles of nature are horrified by migratingducks and gees that are heading east for the winter instead of south.
Those who live on the west coast recognize that whole flocks are migrating to certain death instead of a life of relative ease in southern climes. And it's not just birds. According to one documentary, the famous Monarch butterfly that heads to Mexico to winter over by overflying the Gulf of Mexico is getting lost, threatening a whole species as they tend to fly to and cluster in a small region. Increasing numbers of whales and dolphins are also getting disoriented to the point where they get stranded in shallows. To the horror of rescuers, once sent back out to sea, the same mammals turn around and get stranded all over again. It has been noted the salmon and sea turtles also get disoriented, especially far out at sea where few other markers exist. These types of stories are becoming more prevalent. Some suggest that the mass die offs are due to a kind of collective suicide. However, the cause is likely far more sinister and there is nothing we can do about it. The cause? Geomagnetic reversal!
It is now known that birds like the humble passenger pigeon, geese, ducks, the Arctic tern, salmon, sea turtles, whales, dolphins and other species have an internal compass. Experiments in a controlled environment have definitively proven the existence of an internal compass. Some species are known to navigate by the sun and stars, but this is not universal. For those that rely on the magnetic field of the earth, none that are alive have ever experienced such an event as a geomagnetic reversal. Ancient records show that there have been earlier records of geomagnetic reversals that have caused extinctions. Today, as the chaotic shifting of the geomagnetic field increases, disorientation among these creatures is escalating and the pace is quickening. Flocks of migrating birds fly in unusual patterns that are uncharacteristic of migration. It's as if they have lost their sense of direction; and indeed, they have. Instead of heading south, they head east and we imagine that in other regions, they are heading west and even north when they should all be headed south for the winter. For species that need to be heading south for the winter, any other direction is a fatal error. For the Arctic tern that likes the northern most climes, when the summer comes, it flies straight to Antarctica, almost halfway around the world. It flies over vast stretches of unmarked ocean in all kinds of weather. They used to be able to do it night and day. Now we hear that they are showing up in places that have never seen them. As they cannot find their favourite food in the new locations, they starve.
Human beings don't rely much on magnetic compasses anymore as we have GPS systems that can guide us anywhere we want to within a few metres. But suppose the geomagnetic chaos happened in the 16th to 18th centuries where ships relying on compasses for direction during the day, suddenly went off course and got lost at sea. Though it is true that any sailor worth his salt, could steer by the stars, there were nights when this was impossible and regions where the skies are perpetually cloudy. Even under the best of circumstances in the days of sail, getting lost at sea was routine. It took weeks, if not months to make a crossing from Europe to the new world. A trip around the world took years. Had geomagnetic chaos been occurring then, the magnetic compass might well have been abandoned and the impact of the Europeans on the First Nations might have been far less substantial or even totally absent.
There is another impact that geomagnetic reversal has and that is all the holes that are popping up, allowing radiation from space to reach the earth's surface. These holes are no longer confined to the traditional location of the past magnetic poles, but develop over various regions of the earth as the earth's chaotic magnetic field reorientates. Animals living within one of these holes may see aurora, but the more dangerous side of this, is the exposure to ionizing radiation from the sun and cosmos. Increasing incidences of cataracts and cancer are showing up across the species.
Though magnetic holes don't affect migratory species directly, some may wind up in the middle of one of these, like the Arctic tern that thinks it is in Antarctica, when in reality it may be in the middle of the Atlantic ocean off the coast of Brazil, where in fact a large magnetic hole has emerged. The large numbers of birds find no land except for a small handful of volcanic islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and none of them are suitable nesting grounds for the Arctic tern. Nor will they find the food they need. In addition, they will be exposed to ionizing radiation.
Migratory animals are in serious trouble. The slow rate at which the magnetic reversal is occurring almost certainly guarantees their extinction, unless they can go through an ongoing chaotic shifting of the poles for the full extent of time that it takes, which by some estimates, will take hundreds, if not thousands of years to stabilize. This is far longer than any living species can cope with and seals the fate of many to complete extinction. There is not a thing that we can do about it except to preserve the genome or raise all of them in captivity against the day when the geomagnetic field is stabilized. That can take as long as the observed weakening has been monitored, which we can trace from records in ship's logs going back into the mid 19th century.
Added to this confusion is the changing of the earth itself as tectonic plates begin to move in different directions and at different speeds, such as the speed up of the African rift in recent years. The slow moving rift in Africa has taken off at an unprecedented speed of 28 feet in a single year. Earthquakes in New Zealand suggest big changes are beginning to manifest there. Many people there report a sulphur taste in well water and sulphur smells in the air in vast regions centered on Christchurch.
Earthquake storms have been recorded in the central US. New volcanoes are being born, at least two undersea volcanoes are recorded for the Pacific Ocean that are now breaching the sea surface. These are all symptoms of changes deep within the earth. As changes accelerate, there may be catastrophic land collapses and sudden upward thrusts in other regions. These too will affect species by confusing them further. The last part is hypothetical, but given what we have seen lately; a possibility.
We are now witnessing unusual phenomena in regard to many species on the planet. Coupled with confused migrations is a rising incidence of mass animal suicides and we wonder if the two are connected. With the disappearance of some species will come the emergence of new ones hitherto-fore not seen. These events will fuel plenty of speculation concerning evolution versus creationism. We see that over the next period, there will be great changes as the earth goes through its geomagnetic reversal and causes sudden changes to the ecosystem on the surface and presents a huge challenge to all life. Will the geomagnetic reversal also cause a physical reorientation of the whole planet? We doubt it, but with tectonic plates now adjusting in unpredictable ways, it is only a matter of geologic time where all the landforms will themselves migrate to new locations.
ust imagine a human being without a backbone. Will you expect anything good from that particular human being? From a person who cannot just bear his own weight? The answer is obviously no! Same is the case for a society too. But the difference is that in case of a society, the back bone is its good students. A society’s progress largely depends on the student’s performance in different fields of education. Good students have differences with the normal ones in the aspect that they always keep in mind that they have to build themselves as positive characters for serving the society. A good student has many rights as well as duties towards the society. Here we will discuss about some the duties of a good student.
Duty Towards Parents
First and foremost duty is towards parents. Parents brought up a child from his childhood to adult stage. They do many things for the child which no one in the world will do. Such is their impact in the life of a child. So it is important that a child must respect his parents and fulfill all the duties towards parents. For a good student, it is the most important thing. If he can respect the two persons that are most influential in his life, then he will be able to do that in case of others.
Respect the Teacher
Next a good student should respect his teachers. A teacher is the architect of a society, of a student in general. He plays the crucial role of giving all the necessary educations that are necessary for the development of a student. So teacher must get the deserved respect from a good student.
In the Classroom
Now let’s enter the classroom. Though we have already talked about the teacher, he is not always present in a classroom. That place is acquired by the classmates. A good student must be helpful towards his classmates. He should not differentiate any classmate with other. This differentiation rule can exist in case of normal students. But a real good student should be above all this type of behavior. By doing so, he will learn how to help people around him which will be beneficial for his future. He will then be able to mix up with people of his surroundings and as a result he will able to affect the people by his good qualities.
This is the attitude of the classroom. Also a good student has to be a lively character in his educational institute. He should not only concentrate on bookish studies, abut also take part in extracurricular activities. This will help him greatly. A good student must seek knowledge with full zeal and zest. That’s why important to get into extracurricular activities. This will keep the competitive edge within the students mind in a positive manner. He will be able to get a good going in his future life.
Avoid All Bad Habits
A good student must possess a very good character. He should avoid all the bad habits such as smoking, quarreling with others, abusing and many more. This will help him to become a role model for the other people of the society. His exemplary attitude will make many others try to become like him which will be beneficial for the society’s progress.
Serious About Studies
A good student should be serious regarding his studies. This is an important factor. Yes, it is stated that one should not be book warmish. But he needs to be serious about the studies so that he can maintain a level throughout his student life.
With these duties being fulfilled, a good student can indeed play his part in the progress of the society. If he and many others like him play their part, it is a very good thing for any society. They will be able to prosper at every stage and thus their life will be enlightened. So it is the best for a society to have more and more good students sop that they can prosper.
